How to Build a Learning Module in Vista

Basic Procedure
           
1.
Create a Learning Module using the Content Inventory.
           
2.
Add a Content File that is an html document as the first component in the Learning Module. This can be created in Vista.
           
3.
Add additional components to the Learning Module, such as Headings, Content Files, URLs, Quizzes, Assignments, Discussion Topics, and Chat Rooms.
           
4.
Add the Learnig Module to an Organizer Page on your Vista site.
           
Detailed Instructions
             
Step 1: Create a Learning Module using the Content Inventory
             
  Click on the Content Inventory Tab
(subtab of Build Tab)
 
  Click on Learning Module on the next screen
 
  Click on Create Learning Module button
 
  Name and Save the new Learning Module
 
  The name of the new Learning Module will appear in the Content Inventory.

Step 2: Add an html Content File as first component of Learning Module
             
 

Click on the name of new Learning Module in the Content Inventory.

   
 
  Click on Content File in list of items that can be added to Learning Module    
 
  Click Select File or Create Content File
 
  Option 1: Select File          
 

Choose from File Manager if already uploaded

   
 
OR

  Choose from computer using the My Computer icon.    
 
  Option 2: Create Content File inside Vista     
             
 

Use the HTML page creator.

This word processor like interface allows you to easily create an HTML file which includes images, links to files or websites, tables, bulleted lists, colored text, etc.

It is possible to paste text that has been copied from a non-html file like a Word document into the HTML creator.

Step 3: Add additional components to the Learning Module
             
 

Click on a component type from list at left of screen

 

Use option to Create a new item of that type

or

Select item from inventory list and click on "Add Selected"

Step 4: Add Learnig Module to an Organizer Page on your Vista site.
             
  Click on Build Tab        
 
 

Go to the Organizer Page where the link to module will be placed

For example, click on Course Materials on HomePage and then click on Go to Organizer in menu that appears

 
 

Click on "Learning Module" from list of components to add to page

Choose module from list and click "Add Selected" button
